N.E.mation! is a competition jointly organized by Nexus and Animagine for youths to express their notions on Total Defence through animation. The competition, in its 5th installment, is part of Singapore's Total Defence mission to drive a comprehensive and coordinated nation-wide National Education effort amongst the youth, in partnership with relevant organisations. Together with 24Seven Communications, Techsailor was tasked to develop a interactive web portal to help visitors and participants actively engage throughout the competition.

Objective

Encouraged by the success of the previous N.E.mation! sites, Nexus wanted to take it a step further and rally on the power of online Social Networks to connect better with youths. With the goal in mind, Techsailor was to conceptualize a community portal to support a rich level of interaction amongst users.

Solution

To understand the priorities of the site as well as perspectives from its target audiences - the youths, Techsailor took elaborate steps to fully evaluate the previous N.E.mation! competition sites. From the findings, we placed together a new portal that is easy-to-navigate, consist of bright colors and youth-centric designs, and connectivity to other popular social networks. A key feature fo the site is that it allows for sharing of experiences throughout various phases of the competition by giving users an option to post interactive media such as photo albums and videos and share updates via Facebook and Twitter.
