Ticker Sidebar

This is a completely new feature that was introduced recently. The Ticker Sidebar shows you what all your friends are doing right at this very moment! It shows you what your friends have Liked, what have they commented on, a new post written. It basically shows you every tiny detail in a smaller dosage, as compared to having all news featured on your news feed. The best part about this feature is that it has been automatically enabled so there is no need for you to go through the settings to enable it!

Timeline

This Timeline feature is still under the beta development stage, but here is a developers' sneak preview for Timeline.

Currently, this is what your profile page should look like.

Timeline introduces a completely new profile layout, with added features.

Gone are the old days of showing all your status updates. The Timeline shows a summary of your entire duration spent in Facebook. You can even add in additional events prior to the creation of Facebook, for example at birth.

You can simply scroll down the Timeline, or click on the year on the right. You can now add a photo of yourself at birth. You can also add in new events, from the first year of school till your graduation from university.

Each individual year shown in the Timeline is a summary of the most important events, comments in that year. You can also edit your Timeline if the events were incorrect.

With the new profile layout of Timeline, Facebook Timeline now allows your friends and others to know you better. By looking through your life events and achievements, your friends can better understand you and who knows? You could probably find even more friends with the same interest using Timeline!
