The Facebook Revolution

It’s only been a week, and yet the social media scene has seen loads of changes. Let’s go over the important ones this week!

Facebook’s New Features

Facebook has always been constantly improving itself, and last Tuesday it rolled out yet another wave of new features for its users. Let’s go over some of them.

The new sidebar function

One of these new features is the updated chat function. The chat tab now includes the latest updates on what your friends are up to. Want to try it out? Simply roll your mouse over to see what’s happening! You can view what your friends are doing in real-time, including likes or comment made on photos or posts. As a friend of mine put it, “Facebook stalking has never been so easy!”

Privacy settings for status updates!

Aren’t there times when you just wish that you could hide your status updates from someone (i.e. your parents or boss)? Well, fret not! Facebook now grants you greater freedom to control who is able to view your status updates! What’s more, you can also tag people and add your location immediately! This update is great right, isn’t it?

There are many more functions that we can expect Facebook to launch in the near future. You can read more at: http://on.mash.to/TS_Facebook_Changes_1

Twitter has its own photo gallery!

Twitter has recently rolled out a new function that can compile all the images you’ve either uploaded on your Tweet or retweeted recently! Check out this user gallery now!

The Google Doodle

We’re all fans of Google Doodle, aren’t we? But has anyone wondered how Google Doodle came about? Well the first Google Doodle was from Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who at that time had a problem: They wanted to attend the Burning Man Festival but were afraid that while they were away, the site would crash. Therefore, the first Google Doodle, the Burning Man Iconic Stick figure was on the Goggle Logo, to essentially convey that they were out of the office!

How awesome an idea is that? I think that it’s really practical. And that was how the team came out with different doodles for the holidays. Now, aren’t we always amused by the Doodles we see during the festive seasons! My favourite:

Yes, the smiley series! Do share with us what is your favourite Google Doodle here!
